What it actually does
Every number below is a published specification of the hardware. Nothing inflated, nothing invented.
Forgettable by design
Barely heavier than regular prescription glasses. Built to be forgotten on your face within five minutes.
Languages, online
Connected translation through ChatGPT, covering nearly every conversation you are likely to have anywhere in the world.
Languages, offline
No signal, no problem. Thirteen core languages run on the device itself, for planes, remote roads and dead zones.
All day, then one hour
Up to eight hours of continuous use, back to full in about an hour on the magnetic USB connector.
No camera. No screen. On purpose.
A translation device that watches you is a harder thing to trust, whether you are at a dinner table, in a meeting, or in a stranger's living room. YONWA listens and speaks. It does not record video, and it was never designed to.
- No lens, no optical sensor, nothing pointed at the room.
- Open-ear audio, so you never lose the room around you.
- No screen means you keep eye contact the entire time.
- Wear detection turns it on and off. No buttons to fumble.
Questions, answered
Does it record video or photograph the people around me?
No. YONWA has no camera and no optical sensor, and was never designed to include one. It listens and translates audio only. That is the single decision the whole product is built around.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 8 hours of continuous use at moderate volume. A full recharge takes about 1 hour on the magnetic USB connector.
How accurate is the translation?
Two modes. An onboard engine handles 13 common travel languages with no connection at all. Online, translation runs through ChatGPT across 165 languages and benefits from its ongoing model updates.
Is it comfortable to wear all day?
At 32g it weighs barely more than regular prescription glasses. Open-ear audio rests on your ears without inserting anything into the ear canal, which reduces the fatigue you get from earbuds worn continuously.
Why 249 dollars?
That is the early-bird pre-order price, down from the 299 dollar launch price, limited to the first 10 units. It replaces a translation app, a meeting recorder and a note-taking tool in a frame that weighs 32 grams.
Do I need to turn it on and off?
No. Infrared wear detection powers YONWA on when you put it on and off when you take it off. There is no power button to find.
Stop waiting to learn the language.
Some conversations should not wait. Reserve a pair at the launch price while this batch lasts.
